Volunteers are the smiling faces of the hospital. We utilize volunteers in most of the departments here at Canyon Vista Medical Center. Collectively, our volunteer program averages about 1000 hours per month. Our volunteers work closely with our nursing staff and technicians to lend assistance wherever needed. They help greet patients and family members, answer phones, create packets, help with charts, and take items to patient rooms such as flowers or mail. Because of liability, volunteers are not allowed to administer any type of patient care.
Potential Volunteers need to complete mandatory trainings, drug screen, TB, and background check before being able to work anywhere in the hospital, as well as a hospital orientation.
Volunteers must be 18 years of age. Volunteers are expected to commit to at least 100 hours of service over a six-month period — about one four-hour shift per week. There’s no feeling like the good feeling you get from helping others.
